Many fields of science education such as astronomy, quantum mechanics, rainforest ecology and immunology present students with enormous visualization challenges that are not easily overcome through traditional textbook-based teaching methods. In order to achieve a basic understanding of the subject matter, students must integrate vast amounts of information about processes that occur asynchronously at disparate locations and on multiple length and time scales. The Virtual Explorer project, developed by the Senses Bureau at UCSD, seeks to create highly interactive 3D virtual environments for science education, which provide stimulating, immersive learning enrichment experiences.

• From I-5, get off at La Jolla Village Drive.
• Go west, past the signal at Villa La Jolla Drive.
• Stay to the right and go down the turn-off.
• At the bottom turn right onto Gilman Drive. After about 100 feet you will see an information booth on your right where you can buy a parking permit ($3).
• Continue on Gilman Drive and turn left on Scholar's Drive South. You may park in Lot 101, 102 or 103.
• Walk north, past the Undergraduate Library, to Urey Hall (building 139)
• Meeting is at the Harold and Frieda Urey Room, room 2102
• Signs will be posted to help lead the way.
