On March 13, 2004, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency held the DARPA Grand Challenge, the world's first off-road autonomous vehicle race, from Barstow, CA to Primm, NV. Several San Diego SIGGRAPHers were present, providing logistical and communications support, fielding 3D graphics displays, and just enjoying this historic event. Join us for a look at how some local computer and graphics professionals supported the race with a "Synergy Strike Force" and helped make history.

From Qualcomm Stadium, go East on I-8 to College Ave. exit, go South to the beginning of campus, pull into the Parking Office turnaround on the right and buy parking, then proceed South up the hill to turn Left into Parking Structure 1, and park in student parking. Walk North back down the hill and cross College Ave. to the West at the light. The viz lab is behind the parking office. |
