On March 13, 2004, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency held the DARPA Grand Challenge, the world's first off-road autonomous vehicle race, from Barstow, CA to Primm, NV. Several San Diego SIGGRAPHers were present, providing logistical and communications support, fielding 3D graphics displays, and just enjoying this historic event. Join us for a look at how some local computer and graphics professionals supported the race with a "Synergy Strike Force" and helped make history.
